American Idol

I have a problem with one of the contestants on American Idol. In addition to being realllly weird he is really old too. The website says has him listed as "29" years old, but "39" is more like it.

When he sings he moves around a lot and makes me (and hopefully the rest of America) uncomfortable. Simon and I agree that Taylor should not have made it this far...but I digress.

So.. on a totally different note. For my next tattoo I can't decide what I want to get morer. I thought about a cherry blossom branch going across my back. That would be pretty. BUT then I thought about having the pictures by Shel Silverstein for the poem 'Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout' put on my back. On one side would be the towering garbage and on the other side is her running away:

or:
Something from 'The Giving Tree'

I think that latter two are more fitting for me. The cherry blossom branch would only be for its aesthetic pleasure, but the other two mean a little more to me. I am also a sad girl who won't take the garbage out. The Giving Tree touches me in my heart I can't read it without bawling. What is my problem? Even therapy couldn't answer that.

Well, its Saturday and I don't want to do anything, but I know that I need to. I'm disappointed with some boys as of late. Isn't that always the case? Gameboard night was a success and hopefully we will all do it again. I've also decided that I want to buy a digital camera.
That's all for now.

I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller

Tall men get better education
Swedish study: 6-foot-4 and taller are higher achievers

Updated: 11:07 a.m. ET Feb. 1, 2006
STOCKHOLM - A study of 950,000 Swedish men has shown that taller men get a better education, a researcher said on Wednesday.

The study, to be published in the International Journal of Epidemiology, could suggest short people are discriminated against as they are expected to be low achievers, said researcher Finn Rasmussen at Sweden's Karolinska Institute.

"The probability of achieving higher education in later life increases linearly with height," said the study.
It looked at male conscripts into the Swedish army born between 1950 and 1975 and their education for up to 27 years after their height was measured at the age of 18.

"Men taller than 194 centimeters (6-foot-4) were two to three times more likely to obtain a higher education when compared with men shorter than 165 centimeters," it added.

Feeding variables into the study such as social background or intelligence as measured by IQ altered the outcome slightly, but a clear link between height and educational attainment remained, the research said.

The scientists did not draw conclusions, but Rasmussen said it could be something to do with social attitudes.

"We do not know if people have negative attitudes to short people. It is possible that there could something in society about the expectations of people or attitudes to what people can perform," he told Reuters.
------------------------------------------------
Am I the only woman who loves short men? I went out on a date and told my mother. Her first question was, "How tall is he?". I said "6 foot 3 inches". She replied with, "He's alright in my book". No further questions asked. That is all my mother cares about. I really like a guy who was right around my height (5'6") and my mother had a fit. She always tells me how glad she is that it didn't work out. I find this very strange. My mother is 5'10" and I think that has something to do with her hatred of short people. She seems to like me, even though I am the shortest in my family. Maybe my days are numbered, I don't know. I love short men though...maybe it's to counter her hatred. So one day I will find a nice short man to settle down with and kill my mothers dreams of Amazonian grandchildren.
